Nokia has just
announced the 808 PureView during its press conference at Mobile World
Congress 2012. The 808 PureView is a camera-centric Symbian phone which
definitely is a photographer’s dream and a smartphone enthusiast’s
nightmare. Besides a jaw-dropping 41-megapixel camera, the Nokia 808 PureView
is also powered by Symbian Belle, a dated operating system Nokia is
currently in the process of tossing to the curb. The high-resolution
41-megapixel sensor amazingly include Carl Zeiss optics and new pixel
oversampling technology that allows users to zoom without any loss of
clarity when taking pictures at low resolution. The camera also assists
users to record 1080p videos in very low light situations at 30 frames
per second and is capable of capturing video and photos at the same
time. Especially, the camera will not lose clarity while it zooms.

PureView is the first smartphone to feature Nokia PureView imaging
technologies, including high-resolution sensors and optics from Carl
Zeiss
The Nokia 808 PureView, which was
inspired by the idea of satellite imagery, allows a talk time (over a 3G
network) of 6.5 hours, with a standby time of up to 540 hours.
The 4.0 inch touch screen offers
several pages that you can customize with widgets and shortcuts. The
Home button and the power control are placed at the bottom
Users can switch between standard
resolutions like 2/3, 5, and 8-megapixels or shoot photos in up to
38-megapixels maximum. Otherwise, users are able to capture an image,
zoom in, reframe, and crop without any noise or pixelation
The phone features a 4.0 inch AMOLED
screen with Corning Gorilla Glass and 16GB of built-in storage with
expandability enabled through a microSD card up to 32GB
Pictures can be uploaded directly to Facebook thanks to strong social media integration
You also can save different
wallpapers for each of the home screens. There is a shortcut on the home
screen to open the media player
The Nokia 808 PureView is due to release in May 2012 with price for the Symbian Belle-powered handset of €450 or 600 US dollars
